SEO and Storytelling are not far from each other
The Digital Marketing world is at its peak. The recent Google Core Update gave a lot of attention to user experience as well as the quality of the content shared on web pages.
If your content is good and it makes people spend more time on the internet, if your website has the right web development, you are what Google is looking for.
However, ranking on the first page of Google, let alone on the top 5, has never been exactly easy. Being highly ranked is something that usually takes a lot of time and dedication. It requires both a solid and constant content marketing strategy, which must be tracked consistently to make the necessary adjustments along the way. Other factors like good internal linking inside the website or a tight link-building strategy will also play an important role.
As you can see, search engine rank is a tricky thing because there is no simple way to do it. There are many factors at stake and not a single formula to apply
If we want to position our client’s brands —or our own— within the first page of results on Google, having a good search engine optimization SEO strategy is a must.
But we also need to understand that it is not only about having the right or specific keyword but about telling the right story.
The days where SEO was only about putting some bold keywords on a text a certain number of times are long forgotten. Robotic and cold content is so out of place and business that you will never consider it again.
In today’s world, people are looking for stories and emotion; they want to connect with content and other people on a much deeper, human level.
Your website or blog cannot be a simple billboard to post information about how cool you are. It has to provide quality content that makes people want to stay with you, and choose you when other options are available.
Let us face it: you are not unique; you are not the only one doing the things you are doing, but you can be the best or one of the best if you say the right words. A good positioning strategy will always have storytelling and SEO mixed up together to create something unique.
What makes this brand different from the rest?
A good SEO tactic is always looking for the answer to that particular question. SEO and storytelling come closer to help you shape this answer into something that connects with people.
And no, the answer is not FREE SHIPPING, or 10 YEAR WARRANTY. Sure, those are things that are appealing to the customer, but those are not the reasons why somebody will fall in love with your product or service.
To tell the brand story, we must understand our client’s mission and vision.
What do they want to do?
What is that thing that their product or service really offers?
Is your client selling toys? or tools to enhance your children’s motor skills while creating lovely memories?
Can you spot the difference? It is not the same to build an SEO tactic upon the idea of creating memories with your kids than doing it with the sole premise that we sell the coolest toys in the market.
The first will lead you to talk about family, home, security, and other things that are far more close to a parent than a toy that has a lot of lights and sounds.
Storytelling, of course, is not something reserved only for web pages or blog entries. If you are in the social media world, the concept applies as well. People do not engage with robotic Instagram profiles that only post about their deals. People want entertainment and quality content.
If you want that SEO reporting glowing with beautiful organic traffic, make sure to tell a story and not just facts.
